General information, not a quote. The ranges above come from prices that Dallas–Fort Worth contractors and Texas cost models publish online, each with its source and the date we checked it. Below: what those ranges mean for a real driveway, patio or slab, and what makes two Dallas quotes for the same job far apart.

What does a typical job cost in Dallas?

A two-car broom-finish driveway of about 600 square feet runs $4,200 to $6,000 installed; here is how other typical jobs compare.

  • Two-car driveway, about 600 square feet, broom finish: $4,200 to $6,000 installed at a typical Dallas rate.
  • Large driveway, turnaround or RV pad of 1,000 square feet: $7,000 to $10,000 at the same rate.
  • The same 600-square-foot driveway, stamped: $6,000 to $9,000.
  • Stamped patio of about 200 to 250 square feet: often $4,500 to $7,000 in nearby Forney.
  • Slab foundation of 800 to 1,200 square feet: $4,600 to $12,120 in Texas cost models.

What drives a Dallas concrete quote, in order?

Finish moves a Dallas quote most, then thickness and steel, tear-out, ground preparation, access and permits.

  1. Finish. Stamped concrete runs $3 to $11 more per square foot than a broom finish. Premium multi-color stamping reaches $15–$21.
  2. Thickness and steel. A heavy-duty 5–6 inch driveway costs $12–$22 per square foot, against $8–$14 for a standard 4-inch one. On expansive clay, 5 to 6 inches is the local recommendation.
  3. Tearing out the old slab. $2 to $4 per square foot for demo and haul-off (removal costs).
  4. Ground preparation. A bid that assumes the ground is already prepped can add $1,000 or more in surprise costs once the crew sees the site.
  5. Access. If the truck can't back up to the pour, the crew pumps the concrete in, which costs more.
  6. Permits. Most residential slab permits through DallasNow come to an estimated $107–$300+; the city publishes its own permit fee schedule.

Why can two quotes be $14 per square foot apart?

Because the bids include different work. One Dallas contractor describes a homeowner getting one bid at $7 per square foot and another at $21, and says the gap almost always comes down to what each includes. Line the bids up on thickness, PSI, reinforcement, base preparation, slope, removal of the old concrete, the permit and sealing. The hiring guide lists what a complete written bid shows, and Dallas concrete questions covers yards of concrete, summer pours and resurfacing.

What does the concrete itself cost?

Ready-mix averaged $179.95 per cubic yard nationally in 2025, less of the total than most people expect: a 20x20-foot driveway at 4 inches deep takes roughly 5 to 6 yards. Labor, forms, steel, base material and finishing make up the rest of a per-square-foot price.

How were these Dallas price ranges compiled?

From price pages that were online on September 17, 2026. A range is labelled local only when at least two Dallas–Fort Worth contractors publish comparable numbers; the slab row comes from Texas cost models whose Dallas and Houston figures match, so it is labelled as a Texas range; the plain patio row is a national guide. Pages older than 24 months were left out. No price here comes from a survey of our own. The full method is on how we price, changes are logged on price updates, and corrections go through about this site.

Frequently asked questions

Are these quotes for my driveway?

No. They are published ranges with sources. A company has to see the site, the soil and the access before it can quote.

Why is the slab price a Texas range and not a Dallas one?

No Dallas contractor we checked published slab prices, and the cost models we found give Dallas the same numbers as Houston, so the range is shown for Texas.
